A brief example of what’s wrong with our society. It has nothing to
do with video games, drugs, rock and roll, religion, or politics.
I stopped at Walgreens for ice cream on my way to girls’ night. One
register was open with two people and their full carts in front of me. A
guy was working nearby at an end-cap behind the second register. I
stood there for about four minutes before the cashier was done with
person one.
Now, second in line and feeling my ice cream getting soft, I watch
the guy at the end-cap put a couple things on the counter, look at me
and turn back to what he was doing. The cashier is just starting in on
the cart of the person in front of me. She stops a moment to use the
inercom: “Second checker, please. Second checker.”
The guy steps away from the end-cap and offers to help me at the register.
First: this guy was obviosly oblivious to environment within a three foot radius of him.
Second: did the cashier really need to use the intercom to page the guy four feet from her to help out?
Really. I’m going to call lazy and stupid the front-runners for
what’s wrong with this situation. What happened to our society’s work
ethic and consideration for others?
